General Meeting Minutes 

Zoom Meeting – 5:00pm 

October 7th, 2020 

 

  • Welcome new and returning PTO Members. Meeting called to order at 5:15pm.
  • 2020-2021 PTO Board Members: Lexie Gordish (President), Cindy Hate (Treasurer), Jennifer DePiero (Co-Vice President), Jackie Hutchins (Secretary), Rebekah Lafferty (Historian) and Jodi Lass (Communications). 
  • Teacher Liaison: Stacy Johnson 
  • OKES Administrators:  Katie Crooke, Nick Schell and Jessica Fries. 
  • Administration announcements-Mrs. Crooke: October calendar released, big activities happening, anti-bulling month, red ribbon week and the last Friday of the month kids can dress up for Halloween. Kona Ice is back, popcorn Friday’s are coming back, first quarter ends, report cards coming soon. TBA parent conferences and open house. 
  • Review and approve September 2020 minutes by Jackie. Rebekha motioned to waive the reading of the minutes, Stacy second. Meeting minutes are on OKES PTO webpage. Cindy motion to accept, Stacy second. 
  • President's Report by Lexie-October is National Principal Month, thank you for all you do. PTO is behind our admin all the way and we appreciate them. Our first order of shirts came in, going to organize and deliver to the school Monday. They will be delivered to the teacher classrooms. We are planning to do another shirt order with more children returning to classrooms, was going to take a poll to see if we should start now or wait until January? Stacy Johnson asked if we could do both, but due to shipping cost it is not advisable to have two smaller orders. Katie Crooke asked about ordering bows, but due to covid the bows come from China, so we are not offering them this year. All agreed to have another shirt sale November 2nd. OKES is using Peach Jar for announcements, it is managed by Mrs. Fries who will send digital flyer out about the next shirt sale. Jamie asked if we could offer “sport tech” shirts which PTO is not offering this year. 
  • Treasurer’s Report by Cindy: $14,000 in account. Not as many shirts sold, not many expenses, but business sponsors are doing good. We have approximately $4000 to spend after allotted funded. 
  • Communication's Report by Jodi: Wants to send our digital Peach Jar flyer to get more business sponsors. 
  • VP Report by Jenn-none currently 
  • Historian Report by Rebekah-none currently 
  • Teacher Requests- 

Ms. Johnson: $251.40 for 5 alphabet arc sets*Approved by majority vote* 

Ms. Kinsmen: $87.99 for a primary level Haggerty phonics awareness teacher's manual*Approved by majority vote* 

Ms. Howell: 84.65 for 40 Quick-Word Handbooks for Beginning Writers*Approved by majority vote* 

Ms. Schiller: $1221 for purchase of Scholastic News and Science Spin for all 8 3rd grade classrooms*Approved by majority vote*

  1. Welcome (5:05pm) new and returning PTO Members.
  2. 2020-2021 PTO Board Members: Lexie Gordish (President), Cindy Hate (Treasurer), Jennifer DePiero (Co-Vice President), Jackie Hutchins (Secretary), Rebekah Lafferty (Historian) and Jodi Lass (Communications).
  3. Teacher Liaison: Stacy Johnson-On behave of OKES Teachers, they appreciate our PTO.
  4. OKES Administrators: Katie Crooke, Nick Schell and Jessica Fries.
  5. Administration announcements- Katie-Kids are happy to be back, teachers and staff working hard.
  6. Review and approve May 2020 minutes by Jackie-Motion to wave the reading of May minutes by Cindy, 2nd by Mrs. Thompson. Meeting minutes can be found on the OKESPTO.ORG website under PTO tab, calendar for parents/meeting minutes.
  7. President's Report by Lexie-PTO Board passed a resolution Re: Brick and Mortar, IFlager and Zoom Learning all allowed to participate in PTO. This year PTO is only selling color wars shirts (online)and any “leftovers” from previous years. COLORS CHANGE EVERY YEAR; they do not roll up with students. See website for list of colors.
  8. Treasurer’s Report by Cindy-Board voted on budget: Fundraising sales for color wars shirts only this year. Business Sponsors $1800, Invest $515.00, Memberships $190, $3000 refunded from last year. Budget of appx $12,650.00 (income and expenses). *Approved unanimous
  9. Communication's Report by Jodi-We have 12 sponsors so far. We will promote and highlight one a week.
  10. VP Report by Jenn-None
  11. Historian Report by Rebekah-None
  12. Teacher Requests-None but Mrs. Johnson will send email out 1 week prior to our next meeting.

  14. Member questions-Parent asked: What is Halloween Movie night? (Jenn answered) Mrs. Hockaday asked if we could r/s something for the Spring because Halloween Movie night was cancelled due to Covid? Jess Motosicky-Flagler Bch announced a Trunk or Treat for the kids. Deborah Kunz asked if we participate in family night at local restaurants? (Rebekha responded to that questions). Mrs. Thompson asked for email address for teachers that are remote to order shirts.
  15. Meetings: Our next meeting will be October 7th @5pm

  1. Welcome new and returning PTO Members. Meeting called to order 6:02pm

  2. 2019-2020 PTO Board Members: Lexie Gordish (President), Cindy Hate (Treasurer), Kathy Barnett (Co-Vice President), Jenn DePiero (Co-Vice President), Jackie Hutchins (Secretary), Rebekah Lafferty (Historian) and Jamie Furry (Communications).

  3. Teacher Liaison: Stacy Johnson

  4. OKES Administrators: Katie Crooke, Nick Schell and Jessica Fries.

  5. Administration announcements- None

  6. Review and approve April 2020 minutes- Motion to waive reading/approve, Rebekah Lafferty, 2nd Cindy Hate.

  7. Treasurer’s Report by Cindy – PTO to fund the Sunshine State Reader books for the 2020/2021 school year, Oboe request from last month was paid along with curriculum request from Principal Crooke. There was no cost incurred to the PTO for Jr. Sunshine State Reader/Chick fil-a that was approved last month due to Chick fil-a donating all gift cards.

  8. Teacher Requests- We had no teacher requests for the month of May.

  9. Board Positions voted on for the 2020/2021 school year. Every position was voted with unanimous approval. The board will consist of the following positions:

    1. President- Lexie Gordish

    2. Vice President- Jenn Depiero

    3. Treasurer- Cindy Hate

    4. Secretary- Jackie Hutchins

    5. Historian- Rebekah Lafferty

    6. Communication- Jodi Lass
